Principal's Welcome

Dear Leopard Nation,

As I begin my first school year as principal of Lorena High School, I am excited about serving our great students while making a lasting and positive difference in each of their lives.  Having the opportunity to work with the dedicated staff and parents of this wonderful community is truly a golden opportunity for me.  LHS has over 520 of the best and brightest students in the state as well as an amazing faculty and staff.  Our students are extremely fortunate to have such an outstanding, dedicated, and passionate staff that loves and cares for each of them.

We are a student-centered campus with high expectations for all students and staff.  We continually strive to meet the needs of each and every student on our campus by delivering high-quality instruction and maintaining high standards, both in the classroom and in our extra-curricular activities.  Our shared vision will assure excellence and readiness for a changing world…every one, every way, every day.  In order to fulfill our vision, LHS will facilitate greatness in our students by promoting: academic excellence through high expectations and comprehensive, relevant curriculum; personal integrity by modeling appropriate behavior in all situations; and high self-esteem through student recognition and positive relationships.

Be E.P.I.C. is this year’s motto.  We will challenge each student and staff member to be Extraordinary, Positive, Inspiring, and Courageous each and every day.  By definition, extraordinary people are those that are highly exceptional or remarkable and rise above that which is ordinary or usual.

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome two new members of our administrative team.  Mr. Marcus Wilson will be our new assistant principal and Mrs. Bobbie Lyles will be our new counselor.  Both Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Lyles bring plenty of experience and enthusiasm and will be assets to our campus.  We are excited that they are part of the Leopard Nation and expect great things from both of them.
We look forward to an extraordinary year.  It’s a Great Day to be a Leopard!!!

With Leopard Pride,
Kevin Johnson
