Student Council Countdown to Christmas

On Monday and Tuesday, we're asking students to bring small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, etc. for Shoebox Christmas in association with PALS.   

On Friday we're asking students to bring books to donate for Storybook Christmas (they don't have to be Christmas themed, all books will be donated to children in the area to help combat illiteracy).

Dress Up Theme Details:
Monday - Christmas Spirit (best/ugliest Christmas gear - sweaters, socks, scarfs, etc.)
Tuesday - Christmas Around the World 
Wednesday - Dress up like your favorite Christmas character from film or movie
Thursday - Show your Christmas spirit by dressing like an ornament
Friday - Pajama Day - bring books for donation if you have any you can spare

Drumline

This past weekend the drumline competed at Drums Along the Brazos in College Station.  The drumline defended their title in the advanced category placing 1st, and winning the captions: Best Front Ensemble, Best Snares, Best Bass Drums and Best Tenors. Lorena also outscored local 6A rivals Ellison and Midway High Schools.  This is a good tune-up as the group will now showcase their specialties in snare solos and a Drumline Battle at the national percussion convention being held in San Antonio next week. 

Theatre

LHS Theatre students along with four LMS students will be presenting "Game of Tiaras".  The show plays 11/5, 11/7 and 11/14 @ 7 pm in the PAC. It lasts roughly an hour and a half with a ten minute intermission. Closing night will have the playwright, Don Zolidis, in attendance.  We hope to see you there!

Band Competition

This weekend the band traveled to Glen Rose for the Paluxy Valley Marching Festival where they competed against outstanding programs ranging in size from 2A-6A from the the north Texas area. The LHS Band placed 7th out of 23 bands during preliminaries. After advancing to finals, the band moved up two spots to finish 5th overall. We are extremely proud of the kids and excited with these results!

We invite everyone out to see our last contest performance of Secret Identity for UIL Marching this Saturday, 11:30 AM at Midway Stadium.  This is a free event.

Cross Country

The Cross Country ran away with another fantastic season!  Congratulations to Bradyn Braziel, Isaac Gallegos and Tiffani Peacock for advancing to the Regional Meet on October 26th! 





























Varsity Football

Congratulations to the Varsity Football on their first district win!  The Leopards beat Groesbeck 17-14.  The Leopards will host Rusk on Friday.  Go Leopards!

Pink Out Game

This year the Pink Out game, in support of breast cancer awareness month, will be on Friday, October 16th when the Leopards take on the Rusk Eagles at home.




Band Competition

The Lorena High School Band competed at two contests.  At the McGregor Bulldog Invitational the band received a Division I rating.  At the Midway Marching Preview the band reached its goal to make it into finals and moved up an incredible five spots to finish 5th overall.  Congratulations to our band members!

Lorena High School Wind Ensemble

On Friday, May 15 the Lorena High School Wind Ensemble performed and competed at the Morton M. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, TX. The Wind Ensemble received 1's from all three judges. Also, at the completion of competition on Saturday afternoon, the ensemble would win the "Best in Class" award from the judges. It was a fantastic day for the ensemble!

LHS Student Qualifies for State Swim Meet

Congratulations to Blayne Jackson for qualifying for the 5A State UIL Swimming Competition in Austin on February 20-21!

Blayne had a time of 52.49 in the 100 Butterfly at the Regional Meet. If Blayne makes the finals, you can watch him swim at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon via the Fox Sports Southwest Live Webcast of the competition.
